How Timothy Nicholson got involved with U.S. Geological Survey
I found out about the U.S. Geological Survey internship program while surfing the USAjobs.gov website. I was looking for an internship where I could learn about the fundamental principles of hydrology, so I applied online.
The highlight of my internship was working on the Cataloochee Creek in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The natural beauty of that place was amazing.
Timothy Nicholson's accomplishments
During my internship I learned principles and terminology pertinent to river hydrology, the basics of some interesting water parameter measuring instruments, and a lot about surveying. I also reestablished my work ethic. Having been a full time student for four years, I had forgotten what a 40 hour work week felt like, so it was good to get back to work.
Timothy Nicholson's next steps
I would like to continue working as a Hydrologic Technician. I have no restrictions as to where I can move to and live, so I have been applying all over the states. Hopefully something turns up.
