How Matthew Pedroza got involved with U.S. Geological Survey
I was introduced to the SCEP program while attending Gateway Community College in Phoenix, Arizona. The school bi-annually hosts USGS interviews for summer interships as support of their hydrologic studies program. I interviewed during the Fall visit last year and was invited back for a final interview this past Spring.

Experience
The experience that is most memorable at this point during the intership is the excitment of going to a new site nearly every day of work. As Texas is a new state to me, I literally go somewhere I have never been on a regular basis. I am fortunate to see some stunning landscapes.

Matthew Pedroza's accomplishments
I see this intership as a personal accomplishment as it marks the reward for dedication and sacrifices made toward preparing myself for a career. Recently married, my family is relocating to this region of the country which is another notable success. Professionally I am developing into a skillful hydrologic technician as a result of a positive attitude and experienced mentorship.

Matthew Pedroza's next steps
I plan on staying in the San Antonio region, preferably with the local field office. I will begin graduate work in the Spring to further enhance my career outlook.
