Hydrological Technician, Grand Junction USGS Office, Grand Junction, Colorado

How Jesse Richard Zacher got involved with U.S. Geological Survey
I am currently going to school for my BS in Environmental Science. Within our department there was a job listing at the local USGS office. They had flown a position for temporary work. After working through the STEP program I was fortunate enough to be upgraded to a SCEP.
I will always remember the first time I went for a Cable ride to cross the river to begin a discharge measurement. It was fast and exhilarating! I will also never forget how cold the water can be when you are wading a river in winter.
Jesse Richard Zacher's accomplishments
I have accomplished a number of things. I have become confident in my ability to problem solve, as most of this job requires that skill. I am also very fortunate to have been accepted into the SCEP program after serving as a STEP.
Jesse Richard Zacher's next steps
I plan on graduating next spring and hopefully becoming a permanent employee for the Grand Junction, CO office of the USGS. From there I hope to work my way to possibly becoming a hydrologist.
