How Grayson Clary got involved with DOI Office of the Secretary
The Secretary's Fellow position was featured on Yale's Undergraduate Career Services eRecruiting tool. I applied, interviewed, and was offered a placement in the Deputy Secretary's office.
Fishing at Constitution Pond with students from the D.C. area; not your usual Monday on the job, but a really rewarding way to spend a day of good weather.
Grayson Clary's accomplishments
Working in the Office of the Deputy Secretary, I've had the opportunity to get to know the enormous variety of public policy issues that pass through the hands of Deputy Secretary Hayes and his staff. With a constantly shifting schedule that swings from topic to topic, I've yet to figure out what an "ordinary" day would be here. Supporting those swings in research, organizational, and administrative capacities, I've gained exactly the kind of exposure to work at the federal level that I'd hoped for in coming to the Interior Department this summer.
Grayson Clary's next steps
My future career and educational plans are still very much up in the air, although this internship experience has confirmed my interest in exploring professional options in public service.
