How Catherine Lucero got involved with U.S. Geological Survey
I found out about the program through the civil engineering department. I was interested in focusing on hydraulics and hydrology, so working at the New Mexico Water Science Center seemed like the perfect fit.
I really enjoyed doing field work in Farmington, New Mexico. I'd seen the site numerous times in pictures and maps, but to see the huge hogback of the San Juan basin in real life was amazing. It was also fun to use skills I'd learned in classes or in the office such as surveying.
Catherine Lucero's next steps
After I earn my bachelors degree in civil engineering this spring I plan to go to graduate school.
