Business Resources Intern, Bureau of Land Management (Eastern States), Springfield, Virginia
Bureau of Land Management
How Darrell Burrell got involved with Bureau of Land Management
I found out about the program through USA Jobs. I saw that the BLM had a few openings for summer interns. I was selected for the position and started working in the Lands and Realty division. I learned a great deal about the BLM, its missions and goals through the position.
The thing that I will remember about the job is the overall experience. Prior to working here I never had any real experience in the business workplace. Working here taught me how to best conduct myself in a Federal Environment and how to best approach the duties assigned to me. The one highlighting experience I will remember was my first day in the acquisitions division. I didn't know what to expect and when I started. I realized just how fast-paced the work was and that it is very detailed.
Darrell Burrell's accomplishments
Professionally my accomplishments range from gaining knowledge in Lands and Realty along with acquisitions. I also learned how to conduct myself in a business environment. My major personal experience is the professional relationships I formed while working here. I have met a lot of people that have guided me in the right direction while giving me useful information to further my career.
Darrell Burrell's next steps
From here I want to move up within the Federal Government and obtain more varied positions.
